What a great day to start an adventure!
The plane ride was long but trouble-free. Thank goodness because turbulence always makes me anxious. i did meet two others that will be joining me on the island as residents – Plucky Hen and Buck Stallion. We were also accompanied by Tom Nook (Mr. Nook), Timmy and Tommy the Nook twins. They all seemed nice enough. i did not get a chance to get to know them though because i fell asleep. Plane rides always make me sleepy.
We arrived on Monday, April 20th. The island was uninhabited. There were weeds everywhere. But, there were also beautifully, lush trees – both fruit trees for food and hardwood trees for wood. Across the river and on some cliffs, it looked like there were mum flowers too. i did see a few rocks on the main land that i will have to check out later.
i set up my tent next to the beach. Then i took a small break under one of the hardwood trees. i like the spot i chose for my tent.

To be helpful, i helped pic out spaces for Plucky and Buck. They were really happy with the spots i helped them pick out. i think this is the start of a beautiful friendship.
After that, i gathered branches to help make a bonfire while Mr. Nook looked into the local food source which happened to be oranges! He asked me to pick some of those too for a special smoothie drink surprise.
When everything was set up, we held a celebration and named the island – A’Lakn’kee. How cool is that name!
i picked all the weeds that i could on the main land we are set up on. there is a river that forks and i was not able to cross over to the other side just yet. There is so much work that needs to happen over there too. But according to the bird’s eye map i was given, i really like the lay out of the island!

i was able to catch a few bugs and fish. When i showed them to Mr. Nook, he asked if he could take them and send them to his friend Blathers. i think he is some sort of environment curator. Mr. Blathers was so excited by the description that Mr. Nook gave him of the critters i found he wanted to come out and check out the island for himself. Neat! And, because i did such a great job picking out Plucky and Buck’s spots, Mr. Nook asked me to pick Mr. Blather’s spot too.
Mr. Nook thought it would be a great idea to set up a more permanent dwelling so we turned my tent into a house. He said for 🔔98,00 Bells i can have my house built overnight. He even loaned me the money and i can pay it back in whatever installments i can make over however long i wanted with no interest. That sounded too good to be true so i agreed and tomorrow morning i will have a house! All on my first day. WOW!
Once night time hit, i changed into something more comfortable and let my hair down. i think i got a sunburn i my part from my pigtails! ðŸ˜

Still too excited to sleep, i tried to catch some of the local critters – focusing most on bugs. i even seen a tarantula! i was able to sneak up on it and catch it. i think i will name him Trevor.

After i wore myself out chasing moths, i went bed. i will get to wander the island for a whole year so i can explore more tomorrow… so tired now.
